Then and Now: Farming in California

Panel Discussion

Join us for a panel discussion with leaders in California agriculture to explore how the work and legacy of iconic photographer Dorothea Lange, currently on view at SVMA, can help us understand the California we inherit today.

What have we learned from the Dust Bowl about better ways of farming? What mistakes are we repeating? How can ecological agriculture improve our soil, water, and climate? What is the state of farm economies and farmworker conditions?

Speakers include Michael Dimock, Roots of Change; Judith Redmond, Full Belly Farm; Zeke Guzman, Jardin del Pueblo; and Alegria De La Cruz, Litigation at the Disability Rights Legal Center, moderated by Debbie Barker.

Come early and view the Last West exhibition. Sip on sustainably grown wines from Coplan Vineyards, Sonocaia Estate Vineyards, and Vintner’s Diary.
